Headphone Stand

I wanted a headphone stand that was functional, was inexpensive, and somewhat matched the iMac black and silver theme.  I found this at Sears:

And guess what.  It was only $11.69.  It’s actually a banana hanger!  The headphones can rest on the banana hook on the front or on the top.  There’s also a hook on the back for the cord which was really for the included banana slicer.  That’s right, I got a headphone stand *and* a banana slicer. 😀

Ubuntu Gutsy, amarok, and wavpack

Filed under: Music, System Administration — cygnl7 @ 10:32 am

I looked all over the place and couldn’t find a good way to get wavpack support in amarok for gutsy. It looked like what I really needed was wavpack support in xine-lib (libxine1). As it turns out libxine1 is built without wavpack support for some reason. So I built my own, instructions below. (Next to see if this works for MythTV’s mythaudio plugin. Does it use xine-lib?)

I took the opportunity to attend the Rush Snakes and Arrows Tour show in Salt Lake City. I am so glad I did. What a great night.

New Headphones: Sennheiser CX300 Review

So I’ve been wanting to get a decent pair of canal phones for a while now. I’ve been using some Koss The Plugs for a while to see if I could stand having these things shoved into my ears. I liked those well enough, but felt the sound left something to be desired.

Almost 3 years later I sit here at my computer listening to some Spock’s Beard through my new Sennheiser CX300 headphones.
