rdesktop Video Corruption

Now that I have that Dell running with a decent video card I took it to work to use. I’m happy to be back using a Linux desktop (I really need to run Windows on my “primary” machine since our product doesn’t currently support Linux). It’s causing me to remember all the reasons why every day computer users shouldn’t use Linux as their desktop. One of those reasons is shown by my experience with rdesktop today.

Peter Gutmann’s Cost Analysis of Windows Vista Content Protection

It’s an interesting read, for sure. It will be interesting to see how much “the community” picks up on this and then how much Microsoft listens.

If what he says is true then those who care most about high-end content won’t use Vista for their high-end content. There are things Microsoft absolutely must change before those people will accept this content protection. For example:

WordPress and manual category/link orders

As you can see this landing page is managed through WordPress. One of the annoyances of WordPress is not being able to specify a manual sort order of link categories or links themselves (without doing strange things to names or hacking php). No longer is this the case!

AutoHotKey for Windows

Windows hot keys have always annoyed me. To someone who is a KDE fan the way windows handles hot keys is inconsistent and unusable.
